GRACE PARK
honors portfolio
I am a second year student majoring in fine art, minoring in psychology, and pursuing certificates in pre art therapy and sustainable landscape design.
As an artist I work primarily through photography, writing, sculpture, and alternative printmaking, but I hope to expand my practice and explore every medium. I believe that the purpose of art is to fill the gaps; My work is meant to act as a bridge between science and creativity, an intersection that I believe has more power than we acknowledge. I also tend to explore intersections between femininity, queerness, and nature.
While my scientific interests are ever-changing, Ive found a new freedom to explore the world around me though combining my scientific questions with my art. A field widely ignored and underfunded, yet full of possibilities and potential for world-changing innovation, mycology is one of the areas that I’ve found myself investigating. I consider myself to be an amateur mycologist, and hope to contribute to the mycological community in the future!
Psychology is another interest of mine; As someone who has learned to manage, embrace, and see the good in living life with ADHD, I am very passionate about highlighting the benefits of neurodiversity of all kinds. In high-school I did research that focused on developing affordable biofeedback treatment methods for executive function disorders. As an undergraduate, I’d love to continue with similar research!
Besides science and art, I am passionate about beekeeping (I have three hives that are going strong!), social change, hiking, rock climbing, writing, and creating music.
